TNLCX Race Recap - BloomingCross
Cyclocross is definitely here as we got back into the routine of racing . Back to the overloaded VW Touareg full of team tents, bike racks, packable tables, and TNL gear to sell. Vorderman Volkswagen's support of providing vehicles for race weekends is truly a blessing as we get great vehicles to drive that are reliable, have the space we need, and most certainly look good. Sometimes in-kind sponsorships are better than cash sponsorships, which rings true with this one.
Full cars lead to early morning departures to get to the race course early enough to secure a great spot on the course to setup shop, get unloaded, figure out the tent game, and then try to get a few warmup laps in before the first 10am race, which we have several riders in. Early mornings lead to long days as we have TNLCX members in just about every race slot of the day except juniors. The long days are made quicker by the company we keep, the friends that stop by to talk about TNL or buy some gear, the non-stop racing that breezes by the tent, the photo taking, and the conversations that make spending all day or weekend at a race worthwhile. We sold almost $500 in TNL gear yesterday, which is a great day of sales for us. We can't wait to see all the TNL socks out there this fall.
We're glad to be back and back bigger than ever. We had 16 TNL riders with us in Bloomington with anther 5-8 riders that will show their faces at a CX race in 2017. Several riders moved up a category this year and a few newer to the sport stayed the same in the early season with hopes that their off-season training has prepared them to move up by mid-season. Overall, TNL athletes walked away with great results. Josh Johnson took the first Cat 1/2 win of the year. Zach Berend and Mark Miller both took 2nd places in their categories. Almost everyone else finished in the top 10 of their categories. Very respectful first day of racing.
Lindsie from our Bloomington based, UGO Bars, came out to join us as well. Did you get some samples or pick any bars up from them? They're delicious, all-natural, and vegan bars that taste fantastic. She'll be joining us again in Indy on Oct 8th and TNL will have UGO Bars available at all the races we're going to this season. We'll have samples and bars/boxes of bars for sale as well. If you can't wait until then and want to buy some bars, we have our own special discount code available for you - Check out and use "TNL" as your code for 25% OFF. Let us know how you like them.
It was simply fun to be back at the OVCX race series, which has a national reputation as being one of the best CX series in the nation due to the professional run events, the number of racers, the fact we have 3 UCI weekend events on the calendar, and have produced many riders that have spent time or are currently racing professionally. Great courses and really great people make this is a fun series. We're glad to be sponsoring the series again in 2017. Expect to see some additional banners and fun surprises this season as we try to engage with as many folks as we can.
HUGE Thanks to all our sponsors who make CX a lot easier for us and who incentivize us to not just race bikes, but for us to keep the mission of NeighborLink at the forefront of our efforts through fundraising and meeting needs. We have a new tent, some additional bike racks, signage, and other items thanks to their financial and in-kind contributions this year.
